I really enjoyed the map navigation course and found it both informative and practical. Kathy explained everything clearly and made the course easy to follow. I gained a much better understanding of map reading, navigation techniques and using a compass. A great course that I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to improve their navigation skills. Thank you

Took part in the half day Nav n Natter. Thank you Cathy, for such a fun, relaxed and informative session. My confidence is so improved after just a morning of walking with you. I came home, dusted off my ancient, never-used compass and have been planning which maps to buy so that I can practise my new skills! It was brilliant and I'd wholeheartedly recommend.

Glorious day on the South Downs with Cathy. We started the day with barely any proper navigating/map-reading skills but with Cathy's patient teaching we learned a huge amount and now feel very keen and much more confident about putting all of her advice and tips into practice. The walk with Cathy was not only informative but also very enjoyable - a good natter and some wonderful views. Couldn't ask for more!

Catherine's nav and natters are excellent, a really safe space to start the journey of map reading and compass use for hiking. She responds to the needs of the walkers in the groups and goes through the teaching side in a really gentle and patient manner ensuring your confidence is built and you can see progress in your own skills in just a short amount of time.

Carry Your Kit and Walk was a first for me, I wholeheartedly recommend this joyful mini adventure. Despite a bit of apprehension, I was so pleased I could carry my rucksack comfortably for the two half-days. The secret? Be ruthless and pack only the essentials ;) Pitching our tents and cooking dinner on the stove was great fun. The evening by a campfire watching the sunset, waking up to a magnificent dawn chorus, and the beauty of the South Downs were pure bliss. I also really enjoyed brushing up on my map and compass navigation skills with Cathy’s expert help. I’m still feeling buoyant days later, and I may well be hooked (Cathy did warn me!). If you’re tempted, go for it—you’ll come away smiling and proud of what you’ve done. Cathy, you were a wonderful, inspiring and supportive companion and guide. Huge thanks to you :)

Thank you Cathy for organising such a great walk. I wanted to push myself with a longer walk, but didn’t feel confident going on my own, so this was perfect. Cathy managed all the planning and led us on a great, sometimes surprising route, and doing it in a small, friendly group made it so much better and more enjoyable. We walked, chatted, laughed, and kept each other going. Staying overnight at YHA was new for me, loved the atmosphere and seeing so many people of all ages. I also enjoyed learning some navigation skills on day two, it made me want to keep building my confidence in reading maps. I’ll definitely be joining more walks with Cathy. Cheers to more walking and more time outdoors.

Walk from Southease to Alfriston and back. Considering how far we walked it was a wonderfully relaxing day. Cathy took all the stress from us. The views were incredible. She had planned the route to include different terrains and stops, also she was continually monitoring the time and pace so that we would get back at the predicted time. It was just simply a wonderful day. Please organise another one soon, Cathy

What a wonderful sunny, guided day-hike with Cathy on the South Downs. It was a long walk of 15 miles but she had planned it beautifully, given us helpful tips on what to wear and bring, and kept us going. The group of women that I walked with were amazing. I really hope I see them again.
