NAV & NATTER

If you are a complete beginner, this fun and informal taster session will be the one for you.  These half day or full day walks, for 2 to 8 people, will introduce the following key skills of navigation:

 

  • Setting the map
  • Estimating and measuring distance & timing 
  • Making sense of the map features
  • The importance of keeping your head up!
  • Learn the lingo…tick off’s, handrails, catching features
  • Introduction to the compass
  • Introduction to route planning & strategies

4 to 7 hours    approx. 5 to 10 km     

Half day £45, Full day £80 per person

2 to 8 per group

Bespoke 1-2-1 or private groups available

Various locations on the South Downs including Saddlescombe, Devils Dyke, Steyning, Chanctonbury Ring, Sullington.

A circular route at a relaxed pace with plenty of stops to introduce the skills. Moderate walking fitness required, hill ascents/descents, stiles likely, staying on paths/tracks.
